Scope

This standard specifies a laboratory test method for measuring two basic properties of magnesium sacrificial anode samples in the environment of saturated calcium sulfate and saturated magnesium hydroxide; namely, the oxidation potential of the electrode and the value obtained by consuming unit sample mass. The power (Q) value. Magnesium anodes used underground are usually encased in filler materials. The most typical formula of filling materials is: 75% gypsum powder (CaSO4·2H20), 20% bentonite and 5% sodium sulfate (Na2S04). This standard uses calcium sulfate and magnesium hydroxide electrolytes to simulate long-term environmental conditions buried in gypsum-bentonite-sodium sulfate packing materials.
