Introduction

Background of Standard Revision and Technological Evolution

SY/T 5030-2020 replaces the 2013 version of the standard, focusing on strengthening the technical requirements for electronically controlled diesel engines, adding new pollutant emission limits (in line with the third and fourth stage requirements of GB 20891), and clearly limiting the scope of application to diesel engines for petroleum and natural gas drilling and production equipment. Analysis of core technical requirements

1. Power calibration system

The standard adopts ISO three-level power calibration: ICXN (overload can be 10%), IOFN (oil quantity limited), ICXN (overload can be 3%), and the tolerance between actual power and nameplate power is ±5%. Supporting equipment includes:

  • Basic auxiliary equipment driven by diesel engine (oil pump/cooling water pump, etc.)
  • Air filter and exhaust muffler

Test and inspection specifications

1. New test items

The 2020 version adds static detection of electronic control system (7.3.1.2) and spot test category (8.1.3), durability test requirements:

  1. Complete 40h cycle + 180h continuous operation
  2. Rated power drop ≤5%
  3. No damage to major components (cylinder liner/crankshaft/ECU, etc.)

2. Measurement parameter control

Power measurement must meet the following requirements: speed fluctuation ≤±2%, two measurement deviations <3%; fuel consumption measurement deviation >2% requires re-testing.


Implementation suggestions

1. Electronic control system adaptation

Manufacturers are recommended to:

  • Add ECU fault self-check function (7.3.1.1)
  • Improve monitoring device historical data storage (6.9.2)
  • Select engine oil according to Table 2 (CF-4 grade, adapted to ambient temperature)

2. Application in desert areas

Special configuration required: anti-sand air filter, high temperature resistant seals, coolant prepared according to Appendix A (freezing point -40℃ when ethylene glycol concentration ≥54.7%).
