Scope

This standard specifies requirements for the design, quality qualification, production, marking and documentation of carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel and nickel-based alloy castings for use in the oil and gas industry. This standard applies to castings used in the manufacture of pressure-bearing parts, pressure-controlling parts and main load-bearing parts. Castings manufactured in accordance with this standard may be produced using any casting method. This standard specifies four casting specification levels (CSL). These four CSLs specify different levels of casting technology, quality and qualification requirements.
