Introduction

Background of Standard Revision and Technological Evolution

This standard replaces the 1996 version of the regulations, mainly reflecting three major technical upgrades: strengthening of radioactive protection standards, refining of neutron generator operation specifications, and expansion of environmental safety requirements. Five new referenced standards, including SY/T 6610, reflect the industry's emphasis on hydrogen sulfide protection.

Key technical points of logging operation

Instrument operation specifications

Key control of neutron generator operating parameters: yield stability ±10% (8.3), single/dual source distance measurement speed ≤90m/h/60m/h respectively (6.3.1/6.5.2). Spectral line adjustment needs to ensure accurate positioning of oxygen peak and iron peak (6.2.11).

Data quality control

  • Required curves: 4 main curves such as carbon-oxygen ratio curve and inelastic calcium-silicon ratio curve (7.1)
  • Disk record: The original data of energy spectrum and time spectrum must be completely saved (7.2)
  • Repeat measurement: Abnormal well sections must be remeasured and recorded (6.2.18)

Implementation suggestions for comparison between the new and old standards

Typical change case: New requirements for blowout preventers in through-tubing logging (6.5.1), and it is recommended to equip a special wellhead adapter for through-tubing carbon-oxygen ratio instrument. The spectrum scale check (6.3.11 of the 1996 version) deleted in the original standard has been integrated into the SY/T 5693 specification.

Transitional implementation: Instruments that have completed calibration before May 1, 2010 can continue to use the original method, but they need to complete the new version of the safety assessment.
