Scope

This standard includes in-service inspection, repair, modification, and re-rating of pressure vessels and their overpressure protection devices, except for the specific situations mentioned in Appendix A, which include: containers manufactured according to applicable manufacturing codes; containers not manufactured according to a manufacturing code (without code); containers not manufactured according to recognized manufacturing standards but conforming to requirements of non-recognized standards; containers designed, manufactured, inspected, tested and installed by an authorized authority for special cases after specific approval; non-standard containers that have been manufactured in accordance with recognized manufacturing codes but which have lost their nameplates or markings. The application of this standard is limited to owners or users of individuals or organizations having the following technical qualifications: authorized inspection agencies; repair facilities; engineers; inspectors; reviewers. Pressure vessel inspectors shall be qualified as such.
