Scope

This standard specifies requirements and guidelines for the use of sand screens in the petroleum and natural gas industry, including design, design verification, functional evaluation, manufacturing, storage and transportation. This standard applies to wire-wound screens, pre-packed screens, metal mesh screens, and slotted screens. This standard does not include the following: a) Expandable screens, slotted liners and associated products, such as stabilizers and plugs. b) Diverter screen technology, flow control devices, downhole sensors, and selective isolation devices, even if they may be components of sand screens. c) Implementation standards for screen filtration, including inspection methods or analysis of sand retention efficiency. d) End connections of base pipe.
