Scope

The structure of this standard includes a preface, introduction, twelve chapters and an informative appendix. The first two of the twelve chapters are "Scope" and "Normative References". Chapters 3 to 12 are the specific contents of this standard. The specific content of the standard includes terms and definitions, food irradiation process control, irradiation facilities, products, processes, dose measurement, confirmation, routine monitoring and control, product release of the irradiation process, and maintenance of process effectiveness. Appendix A is an informative appendix. The scope of application of this standard includes: the development, validation and routine control requirements for the irradiation process of food processing by gamma ray devices, electron beams and X-ray devices. This standard ensures that food irradiation processing is carried out in a safe and correct manner to ensure the safety and compliance of irradiated food.
