This standard innovatively proposes a dual-indicator judgment system of median water iodine and median urine iodine:

- For the first time, the quantitative standard of iodine-sufficient areas was clarified

Implementation points
Example of sampling specification: A certain administrative village needs to test 15 wells, and 1-2 wells (10% ratio) are selected from the east, south, west, north and center, and 1 water sample is collected from each well; children's urine samples must ensure that half male and half female and the sample size is ≥50.
Recommendations for standard application
- Preferably use inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (WS/T 107.2) to improve detection accuracy
- Water iodine detection should avoid the influence of extreme values in the flood/dry season
- Thyroid diagnosis needs to be combined with ultrasound measurement (WS 276)
