本标准规定了万兆比以太网无源光网络（10G-EPON）系统的参考模型、与EPON（即1G-EPON）的兼容性、业务承载能力和性能指标、业务接口类型、系统功能、操作维护管理、环境及电气特性等方面的要求，并对10G-EPON系统的物理层和MAC层等进行规范。
本标准适用于公众电信网环境下的10G-EPON设备，专用电信网可参照使用。
Scope
This standard specifies the reference model of the 10 Gigabit Ethernet Passive Optical Network (10G EPON) system, compatibility with EPON (i.e. 1GE PON), business carrying capacity and performance indicators, business interface types, system functions, operation and maintenance management , environmental and electrical characteristics, and regulate the physical layer and MAC layer of the 10GPEON system. This standard is applicable to 10GPEON equipment in the public telecommunications network environment, and private telecommunications networks can be used as a reference.
