Key performance indicator analysis
Resistivity control requirements
The standard controls the cathode paste resistivity according to the use location:
- Steel rod pasteMaximum requirement ≤72μΩ·m (BSGH)
- Cold rammed pasteSpecial requirement ≤78μΩ·m (LDNH)
- Conventional gap paste is relaxed to 65μΩ·m
Implementation suggestions
Selection and matching principles
- GS series hot ramming paste is preferred in high temperature areas
- LDNH cold ramming paste is recommended for maintenance conditions BSTN carbon mortar is used for narrow gap treatment
Key points of quality control
Focus on the matching of volatile matter (7-14%) and expansion/contraction rate (ALA-ALc). It is recommended that:
- Sampling of sealing performance is carried out for each batch
- The roasted specimen must be free of cracks
- The penetration test needs to be kept at a constant temperature of 20℃
Standard application case
Overhaul plan for a 300kA electrolyzer
Use GSGH steel rod paste (compressive strength ≥20MPa) in combination with LDNH cold rammed paste to complete cathode assembly:
- Construction efficiency increased by 40%
- After startup, the voltage drop is stabilized at 3.15V
- The cell life is extended to 2850 days
