Scope

This part of YY 0635 specifies specific requirements for inhalation anesthesia breathing systems for adults, provided or assembled by the manufacturer, or assembled by the user under the direction of the manufacturer. This standard also contains requirements for recirculation absorption components, exhaust valves, inspiratory and expiratory valves, including the exhaled gas passage of an anesthesia ventilator and any part of a non-operator removable anesthetic gas purification system (AGSS). This section does not cover the performance of the respiratory system in eliminating exhaled carbon dioxide, as this is complex and depends on interaction with the patient, fresh gas flow, carbon dioxide absorbers and the respiratory system itself.
