Scope

This part of YY/T 0772 specifies the test method for oxidative stability during processing and sterilization of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) materials for surgical implants. This section describes methods for accelerated aging of UHMWPE samples and components used in total joint prostheses. UHMWPE was aged at high temperatures and high oxygen pressures to accelerate the oxidation of the material, allowing for an assessment of its potential long-term chemical and mechanical stability.
