Scope

This standard specifies the minimum requirements for the compatibility of anesthesia and respiratory equipment and materials in contact with oxygen under normal or single fault conditions with gas pressures greater than 50 kPa. This standard applies to anesthesia and respiratory equipment, such as: medical gas piping systems, pressure reducers, terminals, medical supply units, flexible connections, flow meter devices, anesthesia workstations and ventilators. Compatibility characteristics proposed by this standard include: cleanliness, flame retardancy, toxicity of combustion and/or decomposition products.
