Scope
This standard specifies the sample preparation and determination methods for the depth determination of surface nitriding and nitrocarburizing layers of marine steel parts. This standard is applicable to the determination of the depth of the nitriding layer after gas nitriding, ion nitriding, and nitrocarburizing (soft nitriding) treatment of marine steel parts. Other steel parts can be used as a reference.
