Code of Design for Vertical Hoisting Shiplift of Shipyard
1 Scope
This Code specifies the determination methods of main parameters of the shipyard vertical hoisting shiplift (hereinafter referred to as shiplift), the type of calculated load, safety protection devices, safety coefficients of mechanism and structure design, the design requirements of electrical control and the requirements of shiplift on natural conditions of its construction site and the general layout form of the shiplift.
This Code is applicable to the design of shiplift with the lifting load capacity not greater than 15,000t. And for the design of shiplift with the lifting load capacity greater than 15,000t may also be made reference to this Code.
2 Normative References
The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this Code. For dated reference, subsequent amendments to (excluding corrections to), or revisions of, any of these publications do not apply. However, parties to agreements based on this Code are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the standards indicated below. For undated references, the latest edition of the normative document applies.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this Code, the terms and definitions determined in GB/T 3811-1983 and the following ones apply.
3.1
Vertical hoisting shiplift
The ship launching and landing device which is powered by hoist and is used for vertically hoisting or lowering the ship-bearing platform on which the ship is loaded.
3.2
Coastwise shiplift
The shiplift whose axis is parallel to the coastline.
3.3
Shiplift on pier
The shiplift whose axis is vertical to the coastline or stretches into the water in bevel.
3.4
Excavated-in shiplift
The shiplift whose axis is located in the land area at the back of the coastline.
3.5
Transverse shiplift
The shiplift whose axis is vertical to the ship manoeuvring rail on the ship-bearing platform.
3.6
Lengthways shiplift
The shiplift whose axis is parallel to the ship manoeuvring rail on the ship-bearing platform.
3.7
Hoisting point equipment
The equipment which is used for hoisting the ship-bearing platform by a vertical shiplift and is composed of such parts as the fixed pulley block, movable pulley block, hanging bracket, locking device and the hoist etc.
3.8
Maximum distributing load of platform
The maximum load which may be evenly distributed along the centre line of the platform in the design of platform structure.
3.9
Rated lifting capability
The launching (landing) weight of the maximum designed representative ship which may be lifted. This data is usually adopted as the grade standard for a shiplift.
4 Shiplift Process Design
4.1 The Position of Shiplift
4.1.1 The coastline at the position where the shiplift is located should be straight and even, and the condition of water area shall meet the operation requirements for ships getting in and out the shiplift harbor basin.
4.1.2 When operating the shiplift, the following meteorological and hydrological conditions shall be met:
a) The maximum wind scale is 6;
