Scope
This standard gives the usage conditions, types, parameter selection, test and inspection rules for metal oxide arresters in AC power systems. This standard is applicable to gapless metal oxide arresters (hereinafter referred to as gapless arresters) in AC systems with a system nominal voltage of 3kV~1000kV, and open substations with a system nominal voltage of 110 (66) kV~220kV for protecting line entrance equipment Series gapped metal oxide arresters (hereinafter referred to as gapped arresters) are protected from damage by multiple lightning overvoltages. This standard does not apply to metal oxide arresters for line lightning protection.
