1 Scope

This standard specifies the classification, specification, color, application scope, pattern, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, replacement, amplification and supervision and management of the license plates of motor vehicles.
This standard is applicable to the manufacture, inspection, issuance, supervision and management of the license plate of motor vehicle issued by the Traffic Administrative Department of the Public Security Organ.

3 Terminologies and Definitions

For the purposes of this document, the following terminologies and definitions apply.
3.1
License plate of motor vehicle
The legal mark of motor vehicle for driving on the roads within the territory of the People's Republic of China in registration number of motor vehicle.
3.2
Registration number of motor vehicle
The number defined for motor vehicle by rules in transacting registration business of motor vehicle. Registration number of motor vehicle includes: abbreviation of province, autonomous region or municipality expressed in Chinese character, licensing authority code expressed in English letter, number composed of Arabic numeral and English letter and abbreviation of special license plate expressed in Chinese character.
3.3
Semi-manufactured license plate of motor vehicle
The process product serving as metal base material to manufacture the license plate of motor vehicle but not stamped with registration number of motor vehicle.
