Introduction
1. Background and significance of the standard
GB/T11079-2015 "Test Method for Carbonized Matter in White Oil" is a national standard of the People's Republic of China, used to detect the content of easily carbonized matter in white oil. This standard was officially implemented on June 1, 2016, replacing the old version GB/T11079-2000, and introduced a number of technical improvements and safety specifications.
The main purpose of this standard is to ensure that the quality of white oil products meets the requirements of national standards, especially for food-grade white oil specified in GB4853. By testing the content of easily carbonized matter, the stability of white oil at high temperatures can be evaluated, providing quality assurance for lubricants, insulating oils and other fields.
2. Analysis of technological evolution and improvements
Compared with the old version of the standard GB/T11079-2000, the new version of the standard has made important improvements in the following aspects:
- Name change: The name of the standard has been changed from "Test method for carbonized products of white oil" to "Test method for carbonized products of white oil".
- Update of referenced documents: GB/T601 and GB4853 have been added as normative reference documents to ensure the accuracy of experimental data.
- Safety warning refinement: A number of safety tips have been added, especially the operating specifications of dangerous reagents such as sulfuric acid and concentrated hydrochloric acid.
- Reagent preparation optimization: It is clearly required that the purity of reagents reach analytical purity or above, and the preparation method of sulfuric acid solution has been improved (slowly adding acid to water).
3. Experimental instruments and equipment specifications
| Instrument name | Technical parameters | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Test tube | Ground glass stopper, volume 13.6mL~15.6mL, wall thickness 1.2mm±0.1mm | Used for sample treatment and colorimetric experiments. |
| Water bath | Constant temperature to 100℃±0.5℃, with bath cover | Used for sample heating treatment. |
| Colorimeter | Any shape and size, but must meet the requirements of the opening size | Used for color comparison experiments. |
Note:All instruments must be calibrated and used in strict accordance with standard technical parameters.
4. Experimental steps and operating specifications
The basic process of the experiment is as follows:
- Reagent preparation: Including sulfuric acid solution, dilute hydrochloric acid solution, glacial acetic acid solution, etc., must be prepared strictly according to the volume ratio.
- Sample treatment: Add sulfuric acid solution to the test tube to the 5mL mark, then add the sample to the 10mL mark, cover the stopper and place it in a water bath to heat for 30 seconds.
- Oscillation and observation: After taking out the test tube, oscillate vigorously three times, let it stand to separate into layers, observe the color of the acid layer and compare it with the standard colorimetric solution.
The experimental results are judged based on whether the oil layer changes color and the depth of the acid layer. If the results of the two tests are inconsistent, a third test is required to confirm the final result.
5. Implementation suggestions and precautions
Case analysis: Problems in the preparation of standard colorimetric solutions
In actual operations, some laboratories may cause color deviations in standard colorimetric solutions due to insufficient reagent purity. Recommendations:
- Purchase reagents strictly in accordance with standard requirements, and give priority to analytical grade and above.
- Avoid direct sunlight during the preparation process and ensure a constant ambient temperature.
- Regularly calibrate the colorimeter to ensure the accuracy of color comparison.
