3 Classification
3.1 Classification of solid wire electrode
Solid wire electrode models are classified according to chemical composition, in which the letter "SU" indicates a solid wire electrode for submerged arc welding, and the combination of numbers and letters after "SU" indicates its chemical composition classification. Please refer to Annex A for model/designation comparison between different standards on solid wire electrode.
Examples of solid wire electrode model in this standard are as follows:
Example 1:
3.2 Classification of electrode/flux combinations
3.2.1 Solid wire electrode/flux combinations are classified according to mechanical properties, flux type and electrode model.
3.2.2 Tubular cored electrode/flux combinations are classified according to mechanical properties, flux type and chemical composition of metal deposit.
3.2.3 The classification of electrode and flux combinations consists of five parts:
1) Part I: Use the letter "S" to represent the electrode/flux combinations for submerged arc welding;
2) Part II: Indicate the code for tensile strength of metal deposit under post-weld heat treatment, as shown in Table 1;
3) Part III: Indicate the code for test temperature when the impact energy (KV2) is not less than 27J, as shown in Table 2;
4) Part IV: Indicate the flux type code, as shown in Annex B;
