Introduction

Key points of core changes in the standard

Technical parameters 2008 version 2021 version Impact of changes
Half-life termination condition 180s 120s Improve test efficiency
Relative humidity control Tolerance is not specified (40±4)% Improve data comparability
Number of samples Not specified 5 pieces Ensure statistical validity

Key requirements for instrument configuration

The test system must include:

  • Discharge electrode: needle tip curvature radius ≤0.5mm, applied (-10±1)kV voltage
  • Sensing electrode: diameter (28±0.5)mm flat plate, response time <4ms
  • Rotating platform: diameter (200±4)mm, rotation speed ≥1000r/min

Actual application case

A medical protective clothing manufacturer used this standard to test and found that: The half-life of the fabric treated with class=instrument>conductive fiber is ≤2s, while that of the untreated fabric is >120s, which proves that conductive fiber can significantly improve the antistatic performance.

Technology Evolution Analysis

This standard is modified to adopt ISO18080-1:2015. The main technical differences include:

  1. The detergent type is clarified as GB/T8629 standard detergent 3
  2. The discharge needle distance tolerance is adjusted from ISO's ±0.5mm to ±1mm
  3. The test result rounding rule is added (two significant figures)

Implementation suggestions

Laboratories should pay attention to:

  • Strictly control the environmental conditions at (20±2)℃, (40±4)%RH
  • Use static eliminator to treat the sample before each test
  • Regularly calibrate the electrode distance (20±1mm between the discharge needle and the sample surface)
