Scope

This section applies to instruments for measuring radon volume activity in workplaces, residences, outdoors and soil. The method of measurement depends on the specific purpose, but these requirements apply to instruments commonly used in radiation protection or research. This section applies to grab sampling, continuous sampling and cumulative sampling of various types of radon measuring instruments. The radon concentration is determined by pumping or diffusing radon-containing air into the detector or by measuring the activity of a grab sample at a specific moment. This part specifies the main performance characteristics, test methods and documentation requirements of instruments for measuring radon gas volume activity. This section is used together with "Radon and Radon Progeny Measuring Instruments for Radiation Protection - Part 1: General Requirements".
