Scope
This part of ISO 10001 specifies methods for measuring periodic, random, and transient whole-body vibrations, and identifies the main factors that combine to determine acceptable procedures for vibration exposure. Appendices B to D indicate current opinion and provide guidance on possible effects of vibration on health, comfort and perception, and motion sickness. The frequency ranges considered are: - 0.5 Hz to 80 Hz for health, comfort and perception; - 0.1 Hz to 0.5 Hz for motion sickness. Although not addressing the potential effects of human behavior, most of the guidance here on measuring whole body vibration can also be used in this field. This standard also provides principles for the preferred method of installing sensors for the determination of human exposure. This section does not apply to extremely large single impacts such as vehicle accidents. This standard applies to motions transmitted to the entire human body through support surfaces, including the feet of a standing person or the buttocks, back and feet of a sitting person or the support area of a person lying down. This type of vibration occurs in vehicles, machinery, buildings and near machines at work.
