Introduction

Standard Overview

GB 13544-2011 "Sintered porous bricks and porous blocks" is a national standard of the People's Republic of China, which is used to regulate the technical requirements of sintered porous bricks and blocks with clay, shale, coal ore, etc. as the main raw materials. This standard was implemented on April 1, 2012, replacing GB 13544-2000.

Main revisions

  • Add technical indicators for porous blocks.
  • Allow the use of sludge and other solid waste as raw materials.
  • Increase the requirements for porosity.
  • Specify that the hole type is rectangular or rectangular strip holes, and increase the hole size requirements to improve energy saving effects.

Product Classification and Specifications

Product Classification

Sintered porous bricks and blocks are divided into six categories according to their main raw materials: clay (N), shale (Y), coal mill stone (M), fly ash (F), sludge (U) and solid waste (G).

Specifications and dimensions

TypeSpecifications (mm)
Brick290, 240, 190, 180, 140, 115, 90
Block490, 440, 390, 340, 290, 240, 190, 180, 140, 115, 90

Grade classification

Strength grade: MU30, MU25, MU20, MU15, MU10.

Density grades: 1000, 1100, 1200, 1300 kg/m³ for bricks and 900, 1000, 1100, 1200 kg/m³ for blocks.

Technical requirements and test methods

Allowable size deviation

Specification rangeAllowable deviationRange (mm)

300~400±2.59.0

Appearance quality

No less than one surface and one top surface shall be intact, and the maximum damage size of missing edges and corners shall not exceed 30 mm.

Strength and porosity

MU30 grade bricks: The average compressive strength is 30.0 MPa, and the standard strength is 22.0 MPa.
Porosity: Minimum ≥28% (bricks) and ≥33% (blocks), with rectangular or strip hole structure.

DimensionsGB 13544—2011GB 13544—2000
Product scopeIncrease porous blocks, allow the use of sludge and other solid wastesMainly for sintered porous bricks
Porosity requirementsMinimum ≥28% (bricks) and ≥33% (blocks), using rectangular or strip hole structureMinimum porosity is not specified

Implementation recommendations

  1. Choose appropriate materials: According to the building's load-bearing and energy-saving requirements, choose bricks or blocks that meet the strength grade and porosity.
  2. Quality control: Strictly test the size deviation, appearance quality and mechanical properties in accordance with the standards.
  3. Environmental considerations: Give priority to products containing sludge and other solid waste to reduce the impact on the environment.
