Introduction

Standard Revision Background and Technological Evolution

GB/T 14548-2025, the first revision of the 1993 edition, reflects the significant developments in marine power electronics technology over the past 30 years. This revision removes outdated technical requirements and adds practical requirements for modern marine power systems, particularly targeting the application of new power devices such as insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) and integrated gate-commutated thyristors (IGCTs).

Analysis of Major Technological Changes

Technical Field Requirements of the 1993 Edition Requirements of the 2025 Edition Significance of Changes
Scope of Application Traditional Thyristor Converters Full Range of Power Electronic Devices Adapting to Technological Development
Efficiency Requirements Unified Efficiency Standards Graded Efficiency Requirements Refined Energy Efficiency
Protection Functions Basic Protection Requirements Improving the Protection System
Application type Primary conversion efficiency Secondary conversion efficiency Third-level conversion efficiency
Propulsion converter ≥97% ≥95% ≥90%
Conventional load converter ≥95% ≥92% ≥85%
Energy storage device converter ≥95% ≥92% ≥90%

4.4.10 Fault protection system

The standard establishes a complete fault protection system, including input over-voltage and under-voltage protection, output over-voltage protection, overload protection, short-circuit protection and over-temperature protection, and requires that the monitoring unit must display the fault status in real time and provide an alarm function.

Environmental Adaptability Requirements

The unique operating environment of ships places stringent demands on converters. Section 4.6 of the standard details eight environmental testing requirements, including high temperature, low temperature, damp heat, mold, salt spray, shock, vibration, and pitch and sway, to ensure reliable operation of converters in extreme marine environments.

6.3 Type Inspection Requirements

Type inspection covers 29 inspection items, including 19 mandatory items and 10 negotiated items. The inspection conditions clearly stipulate standard atmospheric conditions: temperature 15°C to 35°C, relative humidity 20% to 80%, and air pressure 86kPa to 106kPa.

Implementation Recommendations

1. Design phase: Focus on thermal design and monitoring functions to ensure that the junction temperature of power devices is within a safe range

2. Material selection: Strictly follow the material requirements of R001-2024, and pay attention to anti-corrosion and anti-mildew properties

3. Production process: Strengthen assembly quality control to ensure that all connections are tight and have anti-loosening measures

4. Testing and Verification: Conduct comprehensive testing in accordance with the test methods in Chapter 5, especially environmental adaptability tests

Impact Analysis of Standard Implementation

The implementation of GB/T 14548-2025 will promote the development of marine converter technology towards high efficiency and intelligence, promote technological upgrading of the semiconductor converter industry, and enhance the international competitiveness of my country's marine electrical equipment.

Manufacturers need to focus on the newly added appearance and assembly requirements, material specifications, and interface requirements. At the same time, please note that the deleted electromagnetic compatibility requirements are no longer mandatory inspection items.
