Appearance Quality Inspection Specifications

The crack width is measured using a reading microscope (division value ≤0.01mm). Two methods are provided for calculating the area of defects such as honeycomb and pockmarks:

  1. Circular defect: S=πD2/4 (D is the average of the vertical and horizontal values)
  2. Irregular defect: S=Lmax×(Wmax+Wmin)/2

Comparative analysis of the new and old standards

Main improvements of the 2017 version:

  • Appendix A (Instrument List) of the 2003 version has been deleted, and each chapter has been changed to a separate provision
  • Newly added Three-point test method (Appendix B) for PCCP external pressure detection
  • Added displacement control method (11.4.1) for double rubber ring joint angle test

Suggestions for the implementation of the standard

  1. The location of the measuring point for geometric dimension detection shall be determined according to 5.3.1, and the ovality of the socket shall be ≤1/12 of the pipe diameter
  2. The cutting method (Appendix C) is preferred for the protective layer mortar strength test, and the test block requires 28 days of curing
  3. Arbitration test: the damage method is used for hollowing detection, and the displacement control method is used for double rubber ring angle
