Scope

This document describes a method for the quantitative analysis of naturally occurring silicate minerals stabilized by electron microprobe analysis. This document is applicable to naturally occurring silicate minerals as well as synthetic silicate materials and other oxygen-containing salts, such as phosphates and sulfates, as well as oxide minerals and materials. This document is applicable to quantitative analyses performed using an electron microprobe or a scanning electron microscope equipped with a spectrometer.
