《GB/T 16264.4-2008信息技术开放系统互连目录第4部分: 分布式操作规程》由TC28（全国信息技术标准化技术委员会）归口，TC28SC6（全国信息技术标准化技术委员会数据通信分会）执行，主管部门为国家标准化管理委员会。
GB/T16264的本部分规定涉及分布式目录应用的DSA 行为。对于跨越许多DSA 的广域DIB,已经设计了允许的行为以确保提供一致的服务。
虽然目录可以建立在某种通用的数据库系统之上,但它本身并不属于这样一种通用的数据库系统。

Scope

The interconnection of information processing systems to provide directory services allows interconnection of systems from different manufacturers, with different management, complexity, and age. It specifies the procedures by which the various components of the directory interact to provide a consistent service to users.
