Introduction

GB/T16491-2022 Interpretation of the standard for electronic universal testing machines

This standard applies to the design, manufacture and inspection of electronic universal testing machines for mechanical properties tests of metal and non-metallic materials. Compared with the old version, the main revisions include the adjustment of the scope of application, the optimization of the requirements for bending test devices, and the improvement of the force measurement system function.

Technical Requirements Interpretation

Force Measurement System:The indicating device of the testing machine needs to display the force value applied to the specimen in real time, and the resolution determination method is clearly defined as the change in the indication value when the motor and control system are started and the sensor is not under force. The zero drift of the force measurement system should not exceed the provisions of Table 6 within 15 minutes after preheating.


Displacement measurement system:The resolution of the indicating device is required to be not less than 0.001mm, and the maximum allowable relative error of the displacement indication of the moving beam is ±0.5%. During the inspection, it is necessary to use a suitable measuring tool to select at least 2 intervals within the working range for measurement.


Control system:Adopt a closed-loop control method, with three control modes of stress, strain and displacement. The conversion process must be smooth without vibration and overshoot. The maximum allowable relative error of the stress rate of the 0.5-level test machine is ±1%, and that of the 1-level is ±2%.

Implementation suggestions

  1. Enterprise procurement:Select a test machine model that meets the standard requirements to ensure that its main parameter series and level meet the test requirements. Focus on the accuracy of the force measurement system and the diversity of control methods.
  2. Manufacturer production: Strictly adjust the production process in accordance with the new standard, and optimize key indicators such as the coaxiality of the clamping device and the surface roughness of the pressure plate. It is recommended to refer to Table 2 to select the main parameter series of the testing machine.
  3. User inspection: The testing machine must be preheated before use, and key technical indicators such as zero drift, force measurement system error and background noise correction value must be tested in accordance with the requirements of the standard appendix.
  4. Maintenance and care: Regularly calibrate the force measurement system and extensometer to ensure long-term and stable operation of the equipment. It is recommended to conduct a comprehensive inspection once a year, including the effectiveness of the safety protection device and the resistance to transportation bumps.
