1. Introduction

GB/T 43432.2—2023 specifies the inspection and calibration methods for Barcol hardness testers, aiming to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the hardness test results of metal materials. This standard is the second part of the GB/T 43432 series "Barcol hardness test for metal materials", which mainly focuses on the technical requirements and inspection procedures of hardness testers.

2. Principle of Barcol hardness test

The Barcol hardness test characterizes the hardness of a material by measuring the depth to which the indenter is pressed into the surface of the specimen under the action of a spring force. The shallower the indentation depth, the higher the hardness of the material. The formula is as follows: HBa = 100 - d / 0.0076, where d is the indentation depth (unit: mm).

Importance of indenter testing

The indenter is a key component in the Barcol hardness test. Its cone angle, diameter and surface roughness directly affect the test results. Table 1 lists the technical parameter requirements of the indenter in detail:

6. Implementation recommendations
