Scope

This part is the general specification, applicable to basic electromechanical relays with quality assessment. In order to be able to assess the quality of basic electromechanical relays, this part specifies the definition of the procedures that must be followed for qualification approval and quality consistency inspection. Within the International Electrotechnical Commission Electronic Component Quality Evaluation System (IECQ), this part is used together with the relevant sectional and detail specifications for the qualification approval of relays (third-party certification by an independent certification body). Approved relays are awarded the IECQ certification certificate and have the right to use the IECQ certification mark. In addition, in addition to the IECQ quality assessment system, this part can also be used for first-party certification (manufacturer's statement) and second-party certification (user certification) (as applicable). However, in these cases, the relay cannot be awarded an IECQ certificate of conformity, nor can it be marked with the IECQ certificate of conformity.
