The purpose of this International Standard is to assist managers in producing effective documentation in their organizations. This standard addresses the policies, standards, procedures, resources and plans to which managers must focus in order to effectively manage software documentation. This standard is expected to apply to all types of software, from simple programs to complex software systems. And it is expected to cover various types of software documentation, acting on all stages of the software life cycle. Regardless of the size of the project, the principles of software documentation management are the same. For small projects, the relevant details specified in this standard may not be used. Administrators can tailor these to meet their specific needs. This standard is proposed for documentation management and does not involve the content and layout of software documentation.
