Scope

This standard specifies the basis and principles for the classification of metamorphic rocks, and formulates a scheme for the classification and naming of metamorphic rocks. This standard is applicable to the identification of metamorphic rocks in geological exploration, and also applicable to geological teaching and scientific research.
