Scope

This standard is applicable to capacitors of power electronic equipment. The operating frequency of systems using these capacitors is usually lower than 15 kHz, and the pulse frequency may reach 5 to 10 times the operating frequency. This standard refers to capacitors installed in housings as components It is divided into AC capacitors and DC capacitors. This standard covers a very wide range of capacitor technology applications, such as: overvoltage protection, DC and AC filtering, switching circuits, DC energy storage, auxiliary inverters, etc. This standard does not apply to:- - capacitors for induction heating devices operating at frequencies between 40 Hz and 24 000 Hz (see IEC 60110-1 and IEC 60110-2); - capacitors for electric motors and similar applications (see IEC 60252-1 and IEC 60252- 2);--capacitors for the suppression of one or more harmonics in the electrical network;--small AC capacitors for fluorescent lamps and discharge lamps (see IEC 61048 and IEC 61049);--capacitors for the suppression of radio interference (See IEC 60384-14);--Shunt capacitors for AC power systems with a nominal voltage above 1 000 V (see IEC 60871-1 and IEC 60871-2);--For AC power systems with a nominal voltage of 1 000 V and below Self-healing shunt capacitors (see IEC 60831-1 and IEC 60831-2); -- non-self-healing shunt capacitors for AC power systems with a nominal voltage of 1 000 V and below (see IEC 60931-1 and IEC 60931-2) ;--electronic capacitors for power circuits;--series capacitors for power systems (see IEC 60143);--coupling capacitors and capacitive voltage dividers (see IEC 60358);--microwave oven capacitors (see IEC 61270-1);-- - capacitors for rail transit (see IEC 61881), application examples are given in 9.1,
