Key technology evolution

Main improvements of the 2021 standard:

  1. Expanding the detection range of praseodymium oxide to 0.01%-0.6%
  2. Adding ICP-MS-MS method to solve the 0.00001% level detection problem
  3. Optimizing the matrix removal efficiency of the TODGA separation column

Inductively coupled plasma tandem mass spectrometer adopts oxygen/ammonia mass transfer mode to effectively eliminate the interference of the neodymium matrix on mass numbers such as 153Tb+ and 159Dy+.


Implementation suggestions

  • Method selection: ICP-MS arbitration is preferred for overlapping ranges
  • Sample treatment: The surface oxide layer of metal samples needs to be removed
  • Quality control points: Internal standard elements cesium (133Cs) and thallium (205Tl) need to be added online
