Scope
This part of GB/T 18844 defines, describes and classifies the damage types of hydrodynamically lubricated metal plain bearings and journals that occur in use. This helps to understand the various types of damage that can occur. This section only considers damage that has a well-defined appearance of damage and can be attributed to a highly certain cause; the various appearances of damage are illustrated with pictures and schematic diagrams.
