Introduction

The China National Standardization Administration Committee has published a new standard, GB/T 18912-2024, which will come into effect on March 1, 2025. This standard is specifically designed to address the salt fog corrosion test for photovoltaic modules. The purpose of this standard is to provide a consistent and reliable method for evaluating the resistance of solar panels against corrosive environmental conditions commonly found in coastal areas or regions with high salinity levels.

The standard outlines detailed procedures for conducting salt fog testing, including specifications for temperature, humidity, and concentration of sodium chloride solution. It also specifies criteria for assessing the performance of photovoltaic modules after exposure to simulated marine environments. By adhering to these guidelines, manufacturers can ensure that their products meet stringent quality standards before entering the market.

This new standard aims to enhance product reliability, durability, and safety by providing a standardized approach to testing. It is expected to play a significant role in promoting the healthy development of the photovoltaic industry and ensuring compliance with international environmental protection requirements.
