Introduction

Interpretation of the core content of the standard

The application of chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (PVC-C) piping systems in the field of hot and cold water transportation must pass strict system applicability verification. This standard specifies six types of tests that must be carried out under the two methods of solvent bonding and mechanical connection:

Technological evolution and standard differences

Compared with ISO 15877-5:2009, this standard adds Chapter 5 test methods, and adjusts the following technical parameters:

  • Unify the test pressures of each pipe series (S6.3/S5/S4 correspond to 0.6/0.8/1.0MPa respectively)
  • Add a clear value of elastic modulus E=2400MPa
  • Specify that solvent-bonded components need to be left standing at 80℃ for 4 days

Implementation and application suggestions

Case: A hospital hot water system renovation project selected S5 grade PVC-C pipes, and special attention should be paid to the following:

  1. According to Table 3, the test pull-out force at 90℃ is calculated as F0=π/4×dn2×0.8MPa
  2. The pressure cycle test needs to complete 10,000 times of 1.2MPa→0.05MPa alternation
  3. The vacuum sealing test needs to be carried out at 23±2℃
