Scope

This Part of GB/T 19436 specifies the requirements for the design, manufacture and testing of electro-sensitive protective equipment (ESPE). The device is specially designed to detect the human body as part of a safety-related system, and it uses a visual protection device (VBPD) for sensitive (or sensing) functions. This section gives special attention to the characteristics that ensure that the VBPD achieves appropriate safety-related performance. ESPE may include optional safety-related functions, which are required in Appendix A of GB/T 19436.1-2013 and this part. This part does not specify the size or shape of the detection area, and the arrangement of dangerous parts related to any special application, nor does it specify what constitutes any dangerous state of any machine, only limited to the function of ESPE and how it is connected to the machine. This section is limited to automatic visual inspection type ESPE without human intervention. This part is limited to automatic visual detection type ESPE that detects objects entering or existing in the detection zone. This section does not include VBPDs with applied radiation wavelengths beyond the range of 400 nm to 1 500 nm. This standard does not deal with the requirements for complex classification or differentiation of detected objects. This section may be relevant to those non-personal protection applications, for example: protection of machinery or products from mechanical damage. In these applications, additional requirements may be required, such as materials identified by sensitive functions having some properties different from those of the human body. This section does not deal with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) interference requirements.
