This standard is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.

This standard supersedes GB/T 19541-2004 Soybean Meal (Solvent) for Feedstuff. In addition to editorial changes, the following technical changes have been made with respect to GB/T 19541-2004:

——the standard title is revised as Feed Materials—Soybean Meal;

——'Scope' is modified (see Chapter 1);

——'Normative References' is modified (see Chapter 2);

——in sensory properties, fawn and caking is deleted, while maple or sorrel and coarse particle type are added (see 4.1);

——the inclusion indexes are deleted (see 4.2 of Edition 2004);

——the quality grade indexes are modified (see 4.2);

——the net content requirements are added (see 4.4);

——the inclusion inspection is deleted (see 5.1 of Edition 2004);

——the inspection of sensory properties and urease activity is modified (see 5.1 and 5.7);

——the inspection of lysine, hygienic index and net content is added (see 5.6, 5.9 and 5.10);

——the method for determination of protein solubility in potassium-hydroxide solution is adjusted to Annex A (see 5.8);

——the permissible errors in test method and monitoring and arbitration requirements are deleted (see 5.8 and 5.9 of Edition 2004);

——the inspection rules are modified (see Chapter 6);

——the soybean meal produced with transgenic soybean is added which shall be in accordance with the requirements of Measures for Management of Labelling for Agricultural Genetically Modified Organisms (see 7.1);

——the determination of protein solubility in potassium-hydroxide solution is modified (see Annex A).

Feed Materials—Soybean Meal

1 Scope

This standard specifies the relevant terms and definitions, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, labelling, packaging, transportation and storage of soybean meal for feed materials.

This standard is applicable to soybean meal for feed materials produced with soybean after oil extraction by prepressing extraction or direct solvent extraction, or with soybean cake after oil extraction, or with soybean germ after oil extraction by expansion extraction.

3 Term and Definition

For the purposes of this document, the following term and definition apply.

3.1
protein solubility in potassium-hydroxide solution
mass fraction of crude protein content soluble in 0.2% potassium-hydroxide solution in the total crude protein content in soybean meal sample under the conditions as given in Annex A

4 Requirements

4.1 Sensory Properties

This product is pale yellow, maple or sorrel and appears as irregular fragment, coarse particle or coarse powder, without fermentation, mould, insect pest, peculiar smell or foreign odor.

4.2 Quality grade indexes

See Table 1 for quality grade indexes.

4.3 Hygienic index

It shall comply with GB 13078.

4.4 Net content

It shall be subject to the label and the deviation shall comply with those specified in Measures for the Metrological Supervision and Administration of Products in Prepackages with Fixed Content.

5 Test Methods

5.1 Sensory properties

It shall be in accordance with Chapter 7 of GB/T 14698-2002.

5.2 Crude protein

It shall be in accordance with GB/T 6432.

5.3 Crude fiber

It shall be in accordance with GB/T 6434.

5.4 Moisture content

It shall be in accordance with GB/T 6435.

5.5 Crude ash

It shall be in accordance with GB/T 6438.

5.6 Lysine

It shall be in accordance with GB/T 18246.

5.7 Urease activity

It shall be in accordance with GB/T 8622.

5.8 Protein solubility in potassium-hydroxide solution

It shall be in accordance with Annex A.

5.9 Hygienic index

It shall be in accordance with GB 13078.

5.10 Net content

It shall be in accordance with JJF 1070.

6 Inspection Rules

6.1 Batching

Products which are of the same specification and produced continuously with the same batch of materials in the same process on the same date of production are considered as a batch.

6.2 Sampling

It shall be in accordance with GB/T 14699.1.

6.3 Delivery inspection

Sensory properties, moisture content, crude protein and urease activity are included in the delivery inspection items.

6.4 Type inspection

Type inspection shall be carried out in any of the following cases and the inspection items are those specified in this standard:

a) Where materials, process or design changes greatly after formal production;

b) Type inspection is carried out once every half year after formal production;

c) Production is resumed after shutdown for more than 3 months;

d) Where the result of delivery inspection is greatly different from the previous type inspection result;

e) Where the product quality supervision department proposes the requirements for type inspection.
