Interpretation of the National Standard of the People's Republic of China GB/T 19590—2023

Background and Significance of the Standard

Nano calcium carbonate is an important inorganic chemical product, widely used in rubber, plastics, coatings and other fields. Since its first release in 2004, this standard has been revised three times, fully reflecting the rapid development of nanotechnology and changes in industry needs. The formulation of the national standard provides an important guarantee for product quality and ensures the healthy development of the industry.

Interpretation of core technical indicators

Particle morphology:Electron microscope observation shows that nano calcium carbonate can present a variety of morphologies such as cubes, quasi-cubes, rhombohedrons, etc. Different morphologies correspond to different application scenarios.

Average particle size:TEM/SEM measurement results show that the average particle size of nano calcium carbonate with a main content of 85% is between 100-200nm. For specific requirements, see Table 1.

Optimization of detection methods

Instruments and equipment:Transmission electron microscope (TEM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) are key equipment for determining the average particle size. To ensure measurement accuracy, it is recommended to use an instrument with a point resolution of no more than 0.3nm.

Reagent requirements:The power of the ultrasonic oscillator must be greater than 250W, and the purity of ethanol should reach 95% or anhydrous level.

Industry Application and Recommendations

Rubber and Plastics:

It is recommended to use nano calcium carbonate with an average particle size of ≤20nm and a specific surface area of ≥75m²/g to ensure a good reinforcement effect.

Coatings and Ink Industry:

It is recommended to select products with particles in the range of 80-100nm, which can significantly improve the adhesion and color stability of the coating.
