Introduction

Core changes in the standard revision

Technical indicators Requirements of the 2008 version Changes in the 2021 version
Melt index Fixed value range Add typical value marking, allowing supply and demand negotiation
Oxidation induction period Not required Added 200℃≥30min indicator
Environmental performance No regulations Added limits for 6 types of heavy metals + 4 types of phthalates

Analysis of key performance indicators

Mechanical performance requirements of modified polypropylene

The standard stipulates that the tensile yield strength is ≥20MPa and the elongation at break is ≥100%, ensuring that the material can withstand mechanical stress without breaking during the optical fiber cabling process. In actual applications, a manufacturer has added elastomers to modify the material to achieve an impact strength of 12kJ/m², which exceeds the standard requirement by 50%.

Key points of environmental compliance

Added Table 2 to specify the requirements for restricted substances, special attention should be paid to:

  • Total amount of phthalates ≤4000mg/kg (total of four substances)
  • The detection method adopts Py/TD-GC-MS pyrolysis gas chromatography-mass spectrometry technology

Implementation suggestions

Production process control

1. The moisture content test uses the method in normative Appendix A, please note:

  • The weighing process must be completed within 10 minutes
  • The drying temperature is strictly controlled at 100℃±1℃

Quality inspection optimization

Suggested additions:

  • Melt index batch fluctuation monitoring (230℃/2.16kg conditions)
  • Oxidation induction period as a key indicator of material thermal stability
