Interpretation of the technical requirements of information security technology iris recognition system

1. Standard Overview

GB/T 20979-2019 "Technical Requirements for Information Security Technology Iris Recognition System" was released in 2019, replacing the original GB/T 20979-2007 standard. This standard specifies the structure, function, performance, security requirements and classification of iris recognition systems that use iris recognition technology for identity recognition.

The standard is applicable to the design and implementation of iris recognition systems, and also provides a reference for testing and management.

2. Iris Recognition System Structure

Module Name Function Description
Iris Image Acquisition Module Responsible for acquiring the iris image of the object to be identified.
Iris Image Processing Module Extracts discriminative features from the iris, including image quality assessment, iris region segmentation, and feature extraction.
Data Transmission Module Transmits data such as sample iris features or registered iris features between modules.

3. Functional Requirements Comparison

The standard divides the functions of the iris recognition system into basic and enhanced levels. The following is a functional comparison between the two:

Iris Image Acquisition and Processing The image is acquired by the iris image acquisition module and should not be acquired or input in other ways. Same as above, but the enhanced level requires higher image quality and feature extraction accuracy.
User Identification User identification is implemented with user name and user identifier, which is unique in the same information system. The enhanced level requires higher security and supports more identification strategies.
