Introduction

Standard Revision Background and Technology Evolution

GB/T 21397-2023, as the basic national standard in the field of cotton harvesters, has made a comprehensive technical upgrade to the 2008 version. This revision focuses on responding to the three major industry development trends of intelligent harvesting, environmental protection and emission reduction, and fine operation. There are 19 major technical changes, and the newly added technical requirements for baler harvesters account for 40%.

Intelligent technology requirements

The new standard systematically specifies the requirements for intelligent control systems in clause 4.6.5:

  • Fault self-diagnosis: At least 20 types of fault codes must be displayed in Chinese
  • Operation monitoring: Harvesting area measurement error ≤3%
  • Data storage: Local storage cycle is not less than 500h
  • Beidou compatibility: The remote communication module must support the Beidou-3 protocol

Implementation suggestions

Three suggestions are put forward for the implementation of the new standard:

  1. Equipment transformation: Existing equipment should be equipped with an online monitoring device for seed cotton moisture content to meet the requirements of Article 5.3.3.4
  2. Process optimization: The defoliant spraying time should be advanced to 21 days before harvest to ensure the defoliation rate ≥80%
  3. Maintenance system: Establish a mandatory replacement system for spindles every 300 hours (refer to Article 4.3.3)
