Scope

This standard mainly specifies the classification, basic requirements for safety and performance, as well as corresponding test methods and inspection rules for DC switches used in battery-powered electric tools (hereinafter referred to as "switches"). This standard applies to manual DC switches installed in the handles of battery-powered electric tools or similar appliances, used to connect or disconnect the circuit supplying power from the battery pack to the motor, regulate motor speed, or change the direction of motor rotation. The rated voltage of the switch does not exceed 36V and the rated current is no more than 40A. Such switches are required to be operated manually by manipulating a part, or through an activated sensor. The operating part or sensor can be integrated physically or electrically with the switch, or separately configured, possibly including signal transmission between the operating part/sensor and the switch, such as electrical, optical, acoustic, or thermal signals.

Note 1: Electronic switches may be combined with fully disconnecting or micro-disconnecting mechanical switches.
Note 2: Switches without a mechanical switch in the power circuit are used under special conditions.
