Introduction

Core design principles of emergency guidance systems

According to the GB/T 23809.1-2020 standard, emergency guidance systems in buildings must achieve the following goals:

  • Maintain visual continuity in power outages or smoke environments
  • Ensure the brightness contrast ratio between evacuation route signs and the surrounding environment>3:1
  • Phosphorescent elements must meet the requirement of continuous luminescence for 60 minutes

Comparison of technical requirements for key elements

Element type Minimum brightness requirement Installation spacing Applicable scenarios
Electric light source evacuation sign ≥500cd/m² ≤10m High-position installation area
Phosphorescent emergency guide line ≥7mcd/m²(60min) ≤5m Low-position wall/ground

Implementation points and special scenario processing

Stairwell setting specifications

Standard Clause 5.4.1 clearly requires: All steps must be provided with continuous phosphorescent strips with a width of ≥20mm at the leading edge, and auxiliary guide lines with an intermittent width of ≤100mm should be provided at the handrails.

Smog environment response plan

When visibility is limited, the low-positioned phosphorescent evacuation route signs should meet the following requirements: 150mm height, 30mcd/m² initial brightness, and ensure that they can be identified within a radius of 3 meters (see Appendix C for details).

Maintenance and inspection requirements

  • Electric light source system: Check the emergency power supply switching function every month (refer to GB/T 16895.33)
  • Phosphorescent elements: Visually inspect against standard samples every quarter
  • Brightness attenuation should be tested annually with professional equipment
