Scope

This standard specifies the requirements for life cycle assessment (LCA) and provides guidance, including: a) Determination of the purpose and scope of LCA; b) Life cycle inventory analysis (LCI) phase; c) Life cycle impact assessment (LCIA) phase d) life cycle interpretation phases; e) reporting and critical review of LCA; f) limitations of LCA; g) relationship between LCA phases; h) conditions for value selection and application of optional elements. This standard covers life cycle assessment (LCA) studies and life cycle inventory (LCI) studies. The application of LCA and LCI results should be considered within the defined purpose and scope, but its application is outside the scope of this standard. This standard is not intended to be used in contracts, regulations, registration and certification, etc.
