Introduction

Core changes in the standard revision

Items 2010 Edition 2024 Edition
Definition of terms 12 items 7 items were added, including test speed and power-assisted braking system, and 4 items including ABS were deleted
Test type 5 types of basic tests 4 types of tests were added, including high-speed braking and wet braking, and Type O test was deleted
Failure test No special requirements 3 types of failure tests for multi-circuit/power-assisted/linkage system were added

Analysis of key performance indicators

Core parameters of driving brakes

  • Braking force distribution: front axle ≥60% axle load, rear axle ≥55% axle load
  • Force balance requirements: braking force difference between left and right wheels on the front axle ≤20%, rear axle ≤24% (when braking force ≥60% axle load)
  • Upper limit of control force: hand control force ≤200N, foot control force ≤500N

Test speed classification

Maximum vehicle speed Vmax Test speed
≤50km/h 40km/h or 90%Vmax whichever is lower
>50km/h 60km/h or 90%Vmax whichever is lower

Comparison of Typical Test Methods

Dry Braking Test

Test Type Braking Distance Formula MFDD Requirements
Front Braking Only S≤0.1V+0.0087V² ≥4.4m/s²
Rear Braking Only S≤0.1V+0.0133V² ≥2.9m/s²
CBS system S≤0.1V+0.0077V² ≥5.0m/s²

Special test conditions

  • Wet braking: 15L/h water jet is required, deceleration ≥ 60% of the reference value
  • Thermal decay: After 10 consecutive brakings, MFDD ≥ 60% of the reference value
  • High-speed braking: MFDD ≥ 5.8m/s² is required when Vmax>125km/h

Technical implementation suggestions

Design optimization direction

  1. When using a multi-circuit brake system, a red warning light must be configured, and the liquid level monitoring accuracy must reach 50% of the volume of the reservoir
  2. The emergency brake device of the linkage brake system must be independent of the main brake energy transmission device
  3. The friction plate thickness can be seen or measured, and the wear alarm threshold must be set in advance of the limit position

Test precautions

  • The ambient temperature is controlled at 4-45℃, and the wind speed is ≤5m/s
  • The initial temperature of the brake is in the range of 55-100℃, and is measured using a friction thermocouple
  • Test channel width = 2.5m + vehicle width, slope ≤1%
