Introduction
National Standard of the People's Republic of China GB/T 24973—2023 Toll barriers
1. Background and significance of the revision of the standard
Since its first release in 2010, the GB/T 24973 series of standards has provided an important technical basis for the toll road industry. However, with the rapid development of traffic engineering facilities and technological advancement, some clauses of the original standards are no longer suitable for new needs. This revision integrates the contents of GB/T24973—2010 and GB/T24974—2010, and comprehensively optimizes the terminology, classification and model, technical requirements, etc. to meet the technical development of modern toll collection systems.
| Standard Content | GB/T 24973—2010 | GB/T 24973—2023 | Modification Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Definition of Electric Railing | See 3.1 | See 3.1 | The scope of definition has been changed |
| Terms and Definitions of Control Switches | See 3.2 of the 2010 Edition | Deleted | No longer applicable |
| Terms and Definitions of Control Switches | See 3.2 of the 2010 Edition | Deleted | No longer applicable | See 5.1.2 | Added S1, S2 and J grades | Extended scope of application |
2. Analysis of major changes in the standard
Compared with the old standard, the new standard has been technically upgraded in multiple dimensions:
- Optimization of terms and definitions: Deleted obsolete clauses and clarified the core functions of electric and manual railings.
- Classification and model: Added more environmental adaptability grades (such as J grade) to improve the versatility of the product.
- Technical requirements: More stringent requirements in terms of material corrosion protection, opening and closing angle deviation, reliability testing, etc.
3. Detailed explanation of technical requirements
3.1 Technical requirements of electric railings
Electric railings have higher standards in terms of material selection, dimensional accuracy, control performance, etc.:
- Material anti-corrosion: Must comply with the relevant provisions of GB/T 18226 to ensure corrosion resistance for long-term outdoor use.
- Chassis size: The length, width and height are controlled within the range of 240~480mm and 800~1200mm respectively to ensure structural stability.
- Opening and closing angle: The standard requirement is 0°~90°, with an allowable deviation of ±3° to ensure accurate running trajectory.
3.2 Technical requirements for manual handrails
Manual handrails focus on durability and ease of operation:
- Handrail arm length: It is recommended to choose 3000mm~5000mm to meet the needs of different toll stations.
- Anti-corrosion treatment: Stainless steel or materials with anti-corrosion treatment must be used.
- Rotation flexibility: The connection part is required to be flexible and free of jamming to ensure smooth manual operation.
4. Test methods and inspection rules
The standard specifies a variety of test methods in detail, including material testing, dimensional measurement, performance testing, etc. All inspection items are divided into type inspection and factory inspection to ensure product quality.
4.1 Implementation Case
A highway toll station uses electric barriers produced according to the new standard. After strict environmental adaptability tests (such as high temperature resistance, low temperature resistance, salt spray corrosion, etc.), it can still maintain stable operation under harsh conditions.5. Marking, packaging, transportation and storage
The product logo should be clear and easy to read, including the manufacturer's information, technical parameters, etc. The packaging must be moisture-proof and shock-resistant to ensure safety during long-distance transportation.
6. Implementation Suggestions
To ensure the effective implementation of the standard:
- Choose the appropriate type of barrier: According to the specific needs and environmental conditions of the toll station, reasonably choose electric or manual barriers.
- Strictly follow the test methods: During the product acceptance stage, various performance tests must be carried out in accordance with the standard requirements.
- Strengthen maintenance and inspection: Regularly conduct comprehensive inspection and maintenance of the railings to ensure long-term stable operation.
