Scope

This standard specifies the requirements for shaft-sealless rotary power pumps driven by magnetic couplings (magnetic drive pumps) or shielded clicks. This type of pump is mainly used in chemical processes, water treatment and petrochemical industries, and its use will also be subject to relevant space requirements. , noise, environmental or safety regulations. A sealless pump is one in which the internal rotor is completely contained within a pressure vessel containing the pumped fluid, the pressure vessel or primary seal being sealed by a static seal such as a gasket or O-ring. In addition to the special requirements specified in this standard, pumps shall generally comply with the requirements of recognized standards. This standard includes design features related to the installation, maintenance and operational safety of pumps and describes the terms to be agreed between the purchaser and the manufacturer/supplier. Where special design features are required for the application of this standard, alternative designs may be proposed, provided that they satisfy the intent of this standard and are described in detail. Pumps that do not fully comply with the requirements of this standard may be proposed for consideration provided that all non-conformities are accounted for.
