Introduction

Standard Background and Technology Evolution

GB/T 26243.1-2010 is equivalent to the ISO/IEC 16512-1:2005 international standard. In view of the current situation of insufficient IP multicast deployment, it proposes the Relay Multicast Control Protocol (RMCP) as an application layer multicast solution.

  • High IP multicast deployment cost: Difficulties in transforming global Internet infrastructure
  • Low unicast replication efficiency: Service quality drops sharply with the increase in the number of users
  • Immature reliable multicast technology: scalability and congestion control have defects

RMCP adopts a layered design, mainly including:

Implementation Recommendations and Notes

Deployment Recommendations

  • Network Planning: It is recommended to deploy in a network environment where the RTT between MA nodes is ≤50ms
  • Agent Selection: SMA should be deployed in the same broadcast domain as the sender
  • Session Scale: A single SM is recommended to manage no more than 500 MA nodes
